Silhouettes & iPhone Photography

Yesterday I went outside in some harsh midday lighting with an iPhone 4 to take some pictures of my siblings playing. I like doing this sometimes because you do have boundaries using an iPhone compared to a DSLR. You can “embrace your boundaries” as Patience Pennington says from The Brightness Project, by getting creative with the gear and situation you have at hand.

I love doing silhouettes on sunny days when you get a lot of that harsh lighting and shadows. Below are some shots of my little sister on top of the playground with the sun right behind her head.

I did two different edits of the same shot trying to decide which one best tells the story I am telling…

I love the silhouette one because it brings a lot of attention to her crazy hair. But I love the one that shows her face. It is so dreamy feeling. Which one do you like best?

This one is probably my favorite. Such a gorgeous picture displaying the love these two sisters have for each other. And trust me. They love each other. Lots.

Another two edits of the same shot. Which one is best? Lovin’ the silhouette, but then just adoring their faces…

Here’s lil bro…

In this edit my background (the sky) almost looks like a body of water…

Some leaves he threw…

Ok. Here are some pictures my sister and I took the other day. I just LOVE how they turned out. But… the original pictures got deleted so here are the iPhone background screenshots :\

(BTW I used Instagram to edit :)

About Abigail

I love the word “down home”…

Of, relating to, or reminiscent of a simple, wholesome, unpretentious lifestyle, especially that associated with the rural southern United States.

That’s me in a nutshell.

I live way out in the country in Texas and enjoy my busy life living in a large family. I love photography, piano, sewing, and, most of all, my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. If you died tonight would you go to Heaven of Hell?
