A while back I mentioned in a blog post that I would be reading a book called God’s Super-Apostles: Encountering the Worldwide Prophets and Apostles Movement. Well, months later, I have finished it. The goal of this book is to evaluate the teachings of the New Apostolic Reformation movement (also know as NAR) in light of the Scripture.
What is NAR? NAR’s fundamental teaching is that modern-day apostles and prophets are to govern the church. Their reason for exercising such authority is because they believe that the church needs unity in order to advance God’s Kingdom on earth and this can only be accomplished through governing apostles and prophets.
The authors, R. Douglas Geivett and Holly Pivec, did an excellent job of walking through the teachings of NAR in light of the Bible.
Many people do not know the movement by it’s formal name and unknowingly adopt the unbiblical practices of it. I benefited from learning the core NAR teachings and how they compare to what the Bible says. This little book will leave you informed and armed with a better knowledge of what the Scripture really teaches regarding apostles, prophets, strategic-level spiritual warfare, apostolic unity, miracles and more.
